Madeleine is a recent graduate from the joint SFU/BCIT Masters degree in Ecological Restoration. Her applied research project focused on the effects of increased ambient noise levels on Northern resident killer whale vocalizations during beach rubbing, and furthered her passion for protecting marine ecosystems and populations from anthropogenic stressors. Madeleine’s main role at Open Ocean Robotics includes acoustic and oceanographic data analysis, with a particular interest in isolation and identification of marine mammal vocalizations.
Though she grew up in Coquitlam before her time as a UVIC undergrad, Madeleine’s home is Victoria, where she’s always just steps from the ocean. When she is not immersed in the marine soundscape, you can find Madeleine camping, baking, or lamenting the fact that her cat loves her partner more than her.
