About Open Ocean Robotics
Our mission is to protect and monitor the ocean sustainably.
Open Ocean Robotics, founded in 2018, is a visionary marine robotics company that is reshaping the ocean monitoring industry with a mission to understand and protect oceans sustainably through simplified remote uncrewed ocean data collection. Our cutting-edge solar-powered uncrewed surface vehicles (USVs) and innovative software solutions redefine the relationship between technology and the ocean to serve customers that rely on ocean data. We support key markets in offshore energy, environmental monitoring, and security.
Vast regions of the ocean are unmonitored, leading to a range of challenges in protecting oceans and growing the ocean economy. Traditional monitoring technologies like ships, aircraft, or satellites have substantial challenges related to cost, availability, persistence, or resolution. Underwater gliders, profiling buoys, and cabled buoys also have limitations related to their inability to reposition, limited sensor payload, and inability to be used in a range of regions. Uncrewed surface vehicles have the ability to overcome many of these challenges, however, their uptake has been limited by technology that is expensive, has limited range, and is not suited to many regions in the ocean.
We provide a highly scalable hardware and software platform that overcomes existing challenges and are poised to transform ocean monitoring.
We offer our customers:
USV for Purchase: DataXplorer can be purchased and paired with our cloud-based software system XplorerView for a leading-edge command and data visualization system that can be used anywhere in the world.
USV Services: Our turnkey services offer customers the data they need without any upfront capital expenditures or need to train staff. We offer data collection at the fraction of the cost of a crewed ship with the ability to conduct missions too dull, dirty, or dangerous for humans.
Data Products: We have developed UnderwaterListener and EnhancedHorizon for AI driven visual and acoustic detection of ships, whales, and other objects in the ocean. We are also creating datasets for a range of applications and data product to provide key insights from our proprietary data.
