Empowering the SCALE-MRV Initiative with Real-Time, High-Resolution Ocean Data to Advance Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal
We’re excited to share that the Ocean Frontier Institute (OFI) has acquired a new generation DataXplorer USV to support the newly launched SCALE-MRV Joint Innovation Project. This initiative is focused on advancing marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) through ocean alkalinity enhancement.
The SCALE-MRV project aims to develop scalable and cost-effective systems for the measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) of ocean-based carbon removal. It brings together researchers, NGOs, and industry partners to conduct field trials in the North Atlantic near Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Our solar-powered DataXplorer USV will carry out missions off the coast of Nova Scotia, delivering real-time, high-resolution environmental data to establish pre-deployment baselines and monitor field activities. Outfitted with advanced oceanographic and biogeochemical sensors and powered by XplorerView, our secure, cloud-based control and analytics platform, the USV provides a clean, safe, and cost-effective solution for monitoring ocean health at scale.
We’re proud to support this critical effort to better understand and responsibly scale ocean-based climate solutions.
