WE OFFER BETTER WAYS OF SEEING OUR OCEANS

Open Ocean Robotics offers safer, more affordable, and sustainable ways to collect and manage oceanographic and maritime data. Our autonomous robotic data collection platform and cloud-based software system provide real-time data acquisition with AI driven analytics.

DataXplorer is our solar-powered uncrewed surface vehicle (USV) with innovative patented technologies, offering persistent emission-free ocean data acquisition in extreme sea states. Paired with XplorerView, our cloud-based data management and USV control system,

we offer a whole new way to understand and protect our oceans.

UNCREWED
SURFACE
VEHICLES

DataXplorer is a solar powered ocean drone, also called an uncrewed surface vehicle (USV).  Powered by the sun, it can stay on the ocean for extended time periods, collecting ocean and environmental data using its suite of sensors. Capable of travelling in both coastal and open-ocean waters, and with a customizable platform for multiple sensor integration, it offers the ability to understand our oceans in a whole new way.

DataXplorer™ ocean data collection USV by Open Ocean Robotics

XplorerView is our secure cloud-based portal for realtime data viewing, actionable insights, and USV operations.  Its easy-to-use interface enables stakeholders to access USV collected data instantly and analyze it with supplemental data feeds to maximize the value to you.

For USV buyers, we offer access to XplorerView MissionControl, our proprietary command and control system to optimize USV operations.  With real-time wind, current, and traffic data, and tools to optimize vessel performance, we offer USV operators an easy to use command and control system.

XplorerView also supports secure data sharing, providing USV collected data and analytics direct to your operating system.

It enables precise biogeochemical and physical parameter measurements from the sea surface to depth. Coupled with with extended missions and real-time data transmission, DataXplorer's autonomous and long-duration operation provides researchers and environmental agencies with the tools they need.

We help researchers and environmental monitoring agencies with:

  • seafloor bathymetry

  • marine biodiversity monitoring

  • benthic habitats and fisheries surveys

  • carbon credit Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV)

  • eDNA sampling

  • ocean current profiling

OFFSHORE ENERGY

Open Ocean Robotics offers sustainable and efficient lifecycle monitoring solutions tailored to the offshore energy sector. Our technology is designed to help the offshore wind industry achieve 5x growth by 2030 to produce 330 GW, enough to power all of Canada plus three of the top 10 producers of offshore wind energy (Netherlands, Denmark, and Belgium).

We help offshore energy with:

  • protected species observations

  • site assessments

  • environmental monitoring

  • asset security

  • weather and ocean current monitoring

  • benthic survey

Robot stops illegal fishing

Can robots save our oceans from poachers? | Colin Angus, Julie Angus | Open Ocean Robotics Subscribe to Freethink on YouTube ►► https://freeth.ink/youtube-subscribe Up next ►► Exploring Earth’s Final Frontier With AUV Technology https://youtu.be/pEhJYyE13NM “Most of us can’t imagine what it will be like when the whole ocean system collapses,” says Colin Angus, CTO and cofounder Open Ocean Robotics, a tech startup that makes autonomous boats. The effects of ocean collapse cannot be overstated. If our oceans fail, then humans will experience suffering on an unprecedented scale and life on earth, as we currently know it, ceases to exist. And that’s the future we face if we don’t do a better job of protecting our oceans. That’s why Angus and his wife Julie co-founded Open Ocean Robotics. The company’s fleet of autonomous boats are designed to manlessly patrol the ocean, collecting a variety of critical data. “Our goal is to help industries operate sustainably on the ocean,” Julie says. “What we can’t measure, we can’t protect. What we can’t see, we can’t change. If we don’t understand the impacts we’re having on our oceans, we’ll never change our behavior.” Read the full story here ►►https://freethink.com/series/challengers/robotic-boats ◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠ Read more of our stories on ocean exploration: Robot penguins are exploring mysterious ocean currents ►► https://www.freethink.com/environment/ocean-eddies Mapping the ocean floor with an underwater "GPS" ►► https://www.freethink.com/environment/ocean-floor-mapping New AI tool checks up on ocean health from space ►► https://www.freethink.com/environment/ocean-health ◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠◠ About Freethink No politics, no gossip, no cynics.
